New work for the exhibition At MUSA Eretz Israel Museum, TA

As written, 2023 , Site-specific installation, Glass pavilion, Flameworked glass, adhesive tape, Treated text: "So it is with death: it never surprises, but it comes as a surprise," Aharon Barak, Haaretz 9.4.2008 curator Henrietta Eliezer Brunner, The eretz Israel Museum, Tel Aviv, May 2023- January 2024

"Exploring themes of mortality and the fleeting nature of life, Dafna Kaffeman conducts a dialogue with 2,000-year-old burial coffin housing intact glass vessels at the Glass pavilion. A landscape of sketchy bare branches made by thin glass rods promiscuously attached to the wall with red adhesive tape; fallen pine needles accumulating on the coffin; dead wasps arranged in a circle conveying a sense of danger, aggression, or the sting of mortality. And although wasps and conifers, have existed hundreds of millions of years before humans//Thanks to the ability to live for many years and regenerate new growth, they symbolize longevity and renewal. The elements of the work – all fixed, static, frozen in time the imagery conveys themes related to death and loss. Finally, the recontextualization of a quote/citation extracted from a museal text complements the sense of stillness and immobility/evoking a sense of finality, remnants of a life that is no more."
